The Timpanogos blog continued...

Ok, so here are some more pictures. You can see the valley below us as we hiked up. You can then see a dome shaped peak, thats not the peak of Timpanogos. You can also see a ridge, a bowl shaped looking rim covered in snow. We hiked for a few miles in the snow. See, we were on a trail but due to the snow we kind of lost that trail after a while. It's not easy to hike in the snow when you are in shorts and have cruddy shoes. Each step would put us up to the top of our shins in snow. We began to hike up closer to the rock faces so we could may hike between these huge sheets of snow and the rocks. However, we soon learned this is impossible; there is a space between the snow and rocks but it's more like a chasm and we just felt it was dangerous so we steered clear. Anyway, we ended up getting to where we needed to go.

Jonathan! I am so impressed! Mike has been telling me since before we got married that he wanted to take me hiking up Mt. Timp. He used to go as a kid with his dad. They hiked up the back side and then slid down the glacier...sounds kind of scary to me but he says everyone does it...if that is justification. So, I'm glad you are out adventuring and I'm glad you are documenting it for us. love, ash
